This is the official website of the Malaysia Special Interest Group on Visual Analytics (MySIGVis). The main objective of this website is to serve as a medium between researchers and the public, broadcasting information related to laboratory activities and achievements.

About Visual Analytics
Visual analytics is a method for exploring data visually, in real-time. Visual analytics is a dynamic, iterative process where you quickly build different views to explore infinite paths of “whats,” and the “whys” behind them. Visual analytics can help you explore, find answers, and build stories in your data. The visual analytics process can lead to visualizations that show you the unexpected.

Today, data is produced at an incredible rate and the ability to collect and store the data is increasing at a faster rate than the ability to analyze it. Over the last decades, a large number of automatic data analysis methods have been developed. However, the complex nature of many problems makes it indispensable to include human intelligence at an early stage in the data analysis process. Visual analytics methods allow decision makers to combine their human flexibility, creativity, and background knowledge with the enormous storage and processing capacities of today’s computers to gain insight into complex problems. Using advanced visual interfaces, humans may directly interact with the data analysis capabilities of today’s computer, allowing them to make well-informed decisions in complex situations.

Committee

MySIGVis aims to provide a platform among researchers, scientists, and industries to share and discuss knowledge, ideas, and experience on Visual Analytics at national and international level. We committed to advancing the skills and knowledge of Visual Analytics in different disciplines, such as business, education, social science, medicine, biology, and physics. We give opportunity to the members to collaborate in research works and visual analytics practices. We do so in a variety of ways; organizing research meetings, annual talk series, national and international workshops and conferences, and research collaboration.

Malaysian Special Interest Group (MySIGVis) on Visual Analytics is initiated in order to provide a platform among researchers to share knowledge, ideas and experience related to visual analytics or visualization issues. By having the MySIGVis website we hope Malaysian researchers will able to collaborate better either in their research work or experiences. Currently, our steering committee includes:
